Action Learning: Embracing Uncertainty
If you did not get a chance to participate in the WIAL USA’s Community of Practice, you missed an engaging discussion with Mies DeKoning, Director of Education for the global board of WIAL, Finding the Path Forward with Action Learning: Embracing Uncertainty in Times of Great Change. Inviting us, as participants, into what he termed “thoughtful play”, we discussed his model for effective action learning. It was a refreshing exercise in thinking and discussion that replaces the “sit and get” model of presentations. The vulnerability DeKoning shows in not knowing all the answers provide us with an open invitation into his academic, yet practical, exercise. As one participant noted,

In the Coaches Corner, Jonathan Kenger shared real experiences from Wells Fargo for Using Action Learning During Times of Uncertainty including: Team Divestiture, Retirements/Reorganizations, COVID-19 + Work from Home, and the Paycheck Protection Program. His presentation of these issues generates a discussion around the types of issues that can be addressed with action learning, in addition to the challenges.
